Since its reactivation in 1992, the Entertainment, Arts and
Sports Law Society (EASL) has provided students with the
opportunity to learn more about these growing areas of the legal
profession. Through various speakers and events, EASL informs
students of the steps they should take in their pursuit of a career
in one of these respective fields, provides opportunities for
networking at which students are encouraged to build contacts, and
helps teach students about current legal issues in each of these
fields. The topics which the Society deals with encompass a wide
variety of legal areas including, but not limited to, agency law,
contracts, copyright, and trademarks. In March 1996, EASL held its
first symposium entitled "The Agent-Athlete Relationship" and
hosted a panel of distinguished speakers from various facets of the
sports-legal world. Since then, the Society has held two symposia
annually involving varying topics spanning the fields of
Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law. EASL also has regularly
scheduled informal speakers throughout the year on various topics
within the Entertainment, Arts and Sports law fields.
