Law Students Promoting the Culture of Life

Law Students Promoting the Culture of Life strives to establish a society where all life is welcomed, especially in the most vulnerable stages. Programs, activities and lectures aim to bring about a Culture of Life in a world that thirsts for Truth and Justice. Law Students Promoting the Culture of Life educates and encourages all of the St. John’s University community and hopes to educate others as to the attacks on human life and invite them to participate in its mission to testify to the value of every human being. In October 2000, the Law Students Promoting the Culture of Life and the Catholic Law Students Association co-sponsored a lecture by the renowned theologian and contemporary philosopher, Fr. Richard Neuhaus. Fr. Neuhaus’ lecture entitled "Law & Philosophy: What to Do with Inferior People: Ethics after the Myth of Equality," focused on the historical parallels between slavery and abortion and the Dred Scott decision and Roe vs. Wade. In March 2001, the society was honored to have the Vice Chancellor of the Archdiocese of New York, Dr. Dolores Bernadette Grier, present a lecture entitled "Abortion, Race and Equality."
