Martin Cerjan joined the Law School faculty in January 2011,
bringing a wealth of experience in law library leadership.
Prior to coming to St. John's, Professor Cerjan was Assistant Dean,
Law Library Director, and Assistant Professor of Law at Vanderbilt
University Law School. He has also held positions as the Deputy
Director of the Garbrecht Law Library at the University of Maine
School of Law, and as a Reference Librarian at both the University
of Washington and the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill.
Professor Cerjan teaches advanced legal research. He is
especially interested in the effects of the transformation from the
use of print to electronic information resources on the practice of
law. The formulation of cost-effective, efficient strategies for
legal problem solving that involve the integration of freely
available Internet resources with expensive published products is
of great concern to him. Professor Cerjan also closely monitors the
issue of the creation of verifiable, authoritative government
publications in electronic format.
