Matthew Bruckner joins the St. John's faculty as Research Professor
of Law in the St. John’s Bankruptcy Program after serving as a law
clerk to the Hon. Allan L. Gropper at the Bankruptcy Court for the
Southern District of New York. Prior to his clerkship, Professor
Bruckner practiced law for three years in the New York office of a
"Magic Circle" law firm where his practice covered a broad variety
of commercial disputes and deal-making. While a law student at NYU,
he was the Senior Notes Editor of the Journal of Law and
Business.
Professor Bruckner's research interests span Bankruptcy,
International Business Transactions, Comparative Constitutional Law
and International Law. His most recent scholarship focuses on how
creditors are able to exploit certain tensions in the Bankruptcy
Code to delay the sale of assets in bankruptcy cases and thereby
gain an undue advantage.
Professor Bruckner received his B.A. from Binghamton University in
2000, and his J.D. from New York University School of Law in
2007.
