supports Windows XP or Mac OSX Tiger (10.4) Operating Systems.
Please note that the software used for administrating the exams
is customized for the current semester and must be downloaded
and re installed each semester. Exam4 by extegrity software
can be downloaded from: http://exam4.com.
Open Book
Exams
Be advised that on open book exams, you will not be
able to access materials in your computer or the internet and
you should plan to print out whatever you might need from your
computer BEFORE THE EXAM.
Day-of
Procedures
You should arrive 45 minutes before the exam is scheduled to begin
. Before the exam materials are distributed, the IT staff will be
present to assist with any last minute issues with your
computer.
- As for any exam, you will receive the exam questions and exam
booklets (should it become necessary to write the answers)
- Your exam is automatically saved once every 2 minutes on your
hard drive.
The proctor will come to your desk to collect your exam
questions, any scrap and the exam booklets (used and un-used)
as well as the “Laptop Problem Report” (if applicable). - If you encounter any computer malfunctions or technical
difficulties you must notify a proctor immediately so that your
issue can be documented. You will then need to power off your
computer by holding the power button, re-start your computer and
the exam4 software and continue with your exam.
- Once your exam has been collected, you are to proceed to the
front of the room where you will sign out.
- The staff of the Registrar’s Office will print your exam and
deliver the hard copy to the faculty.
- If the instructions on your exam indicate that you are to use a
certain number of pages to answer a question, note the following:
- A double spaced typed page equals to approximately 250
words.
- To begin a new page for each answer: Click on options and then
Insert Answer Separation
Problems
Each student will receive a “Laptop Problem Report” with the exam
questions. If you experience any problems with your computer
on the day of the exam, you must notify the proctor and prepare to
write the exam. You will not be given extra time to fix
computer problems during the exam. At the end of the exam,
complete the “Laptop Problem Report” and submit it with your
question paper and answer booklet to the proctor.
If you are unable to submit your exam electronically, you will
be escorted to the IT offices by a proctor. Information
Technology office is located in Room 1-11 where IT staff will
then work to submit your exam electronically. You may not leave if
you are not absoulotly sure that your exam was successfully
submitted.
Post-exam
Should there be any problem with printing your exam, you will be
contacted and asked to bring your laptop to the Information
Technology offices in Room 1-11. An attempt will be made to
retrieve any portion of the exam that was not electronically
submitted.
