Grading and Ranking

The following system of grading is currently in effect:

A+ (4.3)
A (4.0)
A- (3.7)
B+ (3.3)
B (3.0)
B- (2.7)
C+ (2.3)
C (2.0)
C- (1.7)
D (1.0)
F (0.0)

The grade of D is a conditional grade. The number of D credits which a student shall be permitted to carry lies in the discretion of the Committee on Grades. If the committee requires a student to repeat a course in which the student has achieved a D or an F grade and no credit is given for that course, the student will be directed to either repeat that course or take a substitute course.

In addition to receiving grades, students are ranked within their classes at the end of the Fall and Spring semesters only, with the exception of January entrants who also receive rankings after the first summer session.
