Jack Martins was elected to the New York State
Senate. A longtime Mineola resident, he was formerly Mayor of the
Village of Mineola. Mr. Martins, a first generation American whose
parents emigrated from northern Portugal in the 1960s, was mayor of
Mineola since 2003 and also served as a village trustee and library
board trustee.
