For the past 12 years, the Rome campus of St. John’s University
has given students a uniquely international academic experience.
The new St. John’s campus is located in Via Marcantonio Colonna,
21, in the “Rione Prati”area in central Rome.
Until 1870 such area was called Prati di Castello(Castle fields,
of Castel Sant’Angelo) because the Pope’s knights used it for
military practice. It was again used as a military outpost after
Italy’s unification. The area is unique as the buildings reflect
the XIX and XX century building style with wide avenues and
“Umbertinian” palaces. Prati is surrounded by Borgo Pio, the
Vatican, the historical center of Rome, and The Tiber. Restaurants,
museums and monuments are close by. Prati has been traditionally
built around two major streets crossing each other: Via Cola di
Rienzo (connecting Piazza del Popolo with Piazza Risorgimento) and
Via M. Colonna/Cicerone (connecting Piazza Mazzini and Piazza
Cavour). The St. John’s campus is located on one of these main
streets.
The new Rome campus features a wide variety of online services.
Commonly used periodicals and other texts are available on campus.
In addition, the campus subscribes to a number of external
databases and on-line services. St. John’s is dedicated to
providing every student with a high-tech education. At the Rome
campus, our state-of-the-art Computer Lab and wireless connectivity
throughout the campus give students 24-hour access to online
databases, library resources, e-mail and Internet services.
Students can use Internet services without charges or time limits.
All rooms are air conditioned.
In addition, students can enjoy also other campus facilities as
tennis courts, basketball courts, soccer fields and an indoor
swimming pool. Rome is an immortal city, where you can live and
learn among layers of history. Etruscan tombs, imperial temples,
early Christian churches, medieval bell towers, Renaissance palaces
and baroque basilicas are around every corner.
