Housing and Living in Rome
Students have the choice to look for an accommodation in Rome by
themselves. In addition and in order to help students, St. John’s
Rome Program will arrange for housing accommodations in limited
number. June in Rome is “high season” and hotels, residences or bed
and breakfast charge the highest rates.
The Summer Program will reserve up to 15/20 apartments. Students
will be accommodated in different residences according to their
needs and budgets. A student may decide to stay alone or share a 1
or 2 bedroom apartment (according to availability). Prices will
vary from $850/900 (ca.) up to $2,500, per month and per person,
with an average of about $1,700. Students will be accommodated on a
first-come first-served basis. All but the least expensive
accommodations offer air conditioning and most of the other
amenities that US students are accustomed to.
Note also that if a student decides to book housing through St.
John’s and then once in Rome wants a different accommodation
(changing a studio for a 1Bd or vice versa), he/she should cover
the difference in cost (provided that there are still available
accommodations). Due to the expected number of participants, not
all students may be accommodated in the same building. All the
residences are close to the St. John’s campus. Contact the Director
of the Rome Program or the Director of the Transnational
Office to pinpoint your residence.
St. John’s University does not vouch for any of the residences
indicated. St. John’s is not responsible for any of the above
mentioned residencies. All are independent and not affiliated with
the University. We simply work to help our enrolled students to
find the best possible location in term of close proximity to the
Rome campus and reasonableness of price compared with the service
offered by other providers.
