St. John’s Paris Campus - In the
Heart of Saint Germain
Embrace the Paris Experience! We invite you to experience all the
advantages of living and learning at St. John’s campus in Paris’s
storied Saint Germain district located within the fashionable 6th
arrondissement.
Enjoy a timeless academic experience in the famed City of Lights.
One of the world’s leading commercial and cultural centers, Paris
is a wondrous place where the past meets the future, filled with
endless opportunities for those who want to immerse themselves in
the life of this dynamic world city.
The adventure of the Saint Germain district lies in discovering the
narrow streets and hidden squares that bring the city’s history and
literary culture to life. Dominated for centuries by a vast
Benedictine abbey, Saint-Germain-des-Prés came into vogue in the
early 20th century as a center of intellectual and artistic life,
home to jazz clubs and literary cafés, providing the inspiration
for the writing of “Lost Generation” authors like Hemmingway and
Fitzgerald, as well as the canvas for masters of modern art like
Picasso and Miro. Students will gain an understanding of French
culture that can only come from daily immersion in this unique
neighborhood. Although the recent arrival of couture and designer
boutiques is changing the neighborhood’s character somewhat, its
narrow side streets still boast small art galleries, quirky
bookstores and cozy café terraces.
