The Criminal Defense Clinic is a full-year partner clinic
through which students explore the defense side of criminal
practice. Working under the supervision of carefully selected
mentor attorneys from The Legal Aid Society, Criminal Defense
Division in Queens and Brooklyn and Brooklyn Defender Services,
students represent indigent clients in misdemeanor and violation
cases. Guided by the student practice orders of the participating
defense organizations, the students:
- Represent clients at arraignments
- Interview clients and witnesses
- Write motions
- Investigate cases
- Attend court appearances
