St. John’s School of Law Continuing Legal
Education
The School of Law founded the CLE program in 1990, several
years prior to the New York State mandatory CLE requirement. It has
always been our goal to provide alumni and non-alums alike, the
opportunity to refresh, update and enhance their knowledge of the
law through meaningful and practical programs offered by experts in
their practice areas. Whether a newly admitted attorney is
interested in a transitional program in the first two years after
admission or a seasoned attorney is in need of a more advanced
topic, courses are scheduled on a regular basis to accommodate all.
Newly admitted attorneys must take transitional courses to obtain
the required transitional CLE credits. Veteran attorneys may take
either transitional or advanced courses and obtain the required CLE
credit.
Weekend programs which provide the opportunity to gain 16
transitional CLE credits in skills, practice and ethics, are
offered twice a year in the Spring and in the Fall.
We offer these programs with economy and convenience in mind. We
utilize a variety of venues such as our Manhattan, Queens and Long
Island campuses as well as co-sponsoring programs with local bar
associations and law firms. Written materials for most
programs are available upon request at a minimal cost.
Programs are significantly discounted for recent graduates and
discounts for members of the Alumni Association are offered.
