Loida Nicolas Lewis

Ms. Lewis is an accomplished attorney. She is admitted to
practice law in the Philippines and New York. She was the first
Asian woman to pass the New York State bar exam without studying at
a U.S. law school. She later served as a General Attorney in the
Immigration and Naturalization Service. Ms. Lewis is the author of
a popular book entitled: “How to Get My Greencard.”
After the death of her husband, Reginald F. Lewis, TLC Beatrice
named Ms. Lewis as its Chairman and CEO. She has held that position
since February, 1994. TLC Beatrice distributes dry groceries,
beverages and household products in the Paris area and manufactures
and markets ice cream in Spain and the Canary Islands. It also
manufactures potato chips in Ireland.
Ms. Lewis has successfully served as TLC Beatrice’s CEO. In fact,
Working Woman magazine named her the top businesswoman in
the country in 1994, and BusinessWeek named her a “manager
to watch” in 1995.
Ms. Lewis graduated from the University of the Philippines
College of Law and was a cum laude graduate from St.
Theresa’s College. Ms. Lewis has also been very active in the
community. She is one of the founders of the Asian-American Legal
Defense & Education Fund. Speaking to audiences around the
world, Ms. Lewis has promoted the biography of her late husband,
“Why Should White Guys Have All The Fun?...How Reginald Lewis
Created A Billion Dollar Business Empire.”
