Established in 2010, the Public Interest Center supports
and builds on St. John's Vincentian
mission by offering programs and inititives that promote
lawyers’ professional obligation to serve those most in need.
Directed by
Rachel D. Andron, the Center aims to increase
the public interest ethos at the law school and create and expand
public interest opportunities for students.
To meet these objectives, in addition to developing new
offerings, the Center is assuming administrative responsibilities
for various public interest efforts previously coordinated by the
Law School's Office of Career Services and various faculty
members. These endeavors will be enhanced and augmented under
the auspices of the Center.
Here are just some of the exciting
programs and
intiatives the Center is overseeing for the 2011-2012
academic year:
- Orientation Service Day
- Public Interest Center Reception
- Speaker Series
- Pro Bono Service Project
- Public Interest Auction
- Public Interest Fellowship Program
