About the
Center
Established in 2010, the Center for Law and Religion (CLR) at St.
John’s School of Law provides a forum for the study of law and
religion from domestic, international and comparative perspectives.
Directed by Professors Mark L.
Movsesian and Marc O.
DeGirolami, and supported by members of the
Law School faculty with an interest in law and religion, CLR
aims to:
• Examine the role of law in the relationship between religion and
the state
• Explore the concept of law in different religious
traditions
• Promote St. John’s Vincentian mission by
encouraging an open dialogue on law and religion in the local,
national and international communities
In addition to hosting
academic programs here and abroad, CLR coordinates the Law
School’s
law and religion curriculum and hosts CLR Forum, a frequently
updated online resource on recent scholarship, cases and law and
religion news from across the globe.
