sponsors a variety of programs and events throughout the academic
year.
Recurring events open to St. John’s
students and alumni:
Annual Symposium
The Center hosts an annual symposium bringing together scholars and
practitioners from around the world to discuss legal responses to
global challenges. The proceedings are published each year in a
special edition of the St. John’s Journal of
International and Comparative Law.
Global Issues Speaker Series
The Global Issues Series brings international and comparative law
scholars to the St. John’s campus to present their work and engage
in discussion with faculty and students.
Past Events:
On April 1, 2011, the Center, along with the St. John’s Journal of
International and Comparative Law, hosted its inaugural annual
symposium: Challenges to International Law, Challenges from
International Law: New Realities and the Global
Order.
On March 15, 2011, the Center hosted a Student Roundtable with
guest presenter Dr. Layachi from the Department of Government and
Politics.
On October 25, 2010, CICL and the Center
for Law and Religion hosted a Global Issues Speaker Series on
Freedom from Religion: First Amendment Rights and National
Security featuring Professor Amos Guiora.
