Using Web-based Instructional Technology
to Enhance Mathematics
Geometry Instruction in Grades Pre-K through 8
This online course is designed to provide content focused on
developing teachers’ understanding of geometric thinking, and their
skills developing conceptual understandings of geometric topics in
grades Pre-K through 8. In this course, students investigate
web-based geometry lessons, design and implement follow-up
activities using web resources, evaluate geometry websites,
critique journal articles concerning current research on geometric
thinking, and report back to their fellow online classmates. Class
members in turn offer constructive feedback, share additional web
resources, offer suggestions for future follow-up
lessons/activities in the classroom, and recommend future research
ideas.
