The Field Change program is intended for students who have already earned initial certification at a different developmental level.

You must bring an unofficial copy of your transcript to every advisement appointment or you will not be seen by the advisor.  Recommended order and pairing are listed. Download the program planning sheet.

Required Foundations Courses:

  • EDU 7000 - Sociological & Psychological Foundations of Learning
  • EDU 7126 - Observing and Recording the Behavior of Young Children*
  • EDU 7127 - School, Family and Community Partnerships
  • EDU 7128 - Integrated Curriculum in Early Childhood*
  • EDU 7122 - Programs in Early Childhood Education: Play, Social Learning & Early Childhood Environments

Required Special Education Courses: (choose one):

  • EDU 9711 - Education of Individuals with Exceptionalities
  • EDU 9737 - Early Childhood Special Education

Required Methods Courses:

  • EDU 3200 - Language Acquisition & Literacy Development for General Education/English Language Learners (ELL)
  • EDU 7124   Literature in Early Childhood Education
  • EDU 7123   Creative Arts in Early Childhood Ed – Inclusive Settings*
  • EDU 7129   Mathematics & Science in Early Childhood

Research Methodology (Taken in last 12 credits of program)

  • EDU 7585   Assessment and Evaluation in the Teaching/Learning

Internship(after 21 credits) or Student Teaching (in last 9 credits of program): 

  • EDU 7114i - Early Childhood Internship* or EDU 7114 Student Teaching*

Prerequisites: Must pass LAST, ATS-W and CST and complete required workshops (Child Abuse Identification, School Violence Prevention)
