The Continuing program is intended for students who wish to pursue a master's degree in the same academic area as his/her initial teaching certification

You must bring an unofficial copy of your transcript to every advisement appointment or you will not be seen by the advisor.  Recommended order and pairing are listed. Download the program planning sheet.

Required Foundations Courses:

  • EDU 7297 - Integrative Research Seminar in Education
  • EDU 7000 - Sociological & Psychological Foundations of Learning
  • EDU 7290 - Human Relations in Multicultural and Inclusive Settings (Recommended in conjunction with Required Methods Courses a, b, or c)
  • EDU 7666 - Developing Curriculum Material for the Web (Recommended in conjunction with Required Methods Courses a, b, or c)

Required Methods Courses (four courses from the following):

  • EDU 7135 - Current Trends, Research & Assessment in Social Studies (a)*
  • EDU 7136 - Current Trends, Research & Assessment in Science (b)*
  • EDU 7137 - Current Trends, Research & Assessment in Mathematics (c)*
  • EDU 7138 - Current Trends & Research in Language Arts
  • EDU 7129 - Mathematics & Science in Early Childhood

Elective Courses (one course from the following or one other course with advisor approval)

  • EDU 7410 - Identification of the Gifted and Talented
  • EDU 7411 - Introduction to Designing Programs for Gifted and Talented Students
  • EDU 7106 - Socio-Emotional, Cultural & Cognitive Aspects of Middle School Learners in General & Inclusive Settings
  • EDU 7107 - Methods & Strategies of Teaching Middle School Learners in General & Inclusive Settings*

Research Methodology (taken in last 6 credits of program):

  • EDU 7585 - Assessment & Evaluation in the Teaching/Learning Process

Required Examinations: LAST, ATS-W, CST**

Required Workshops: Child Abuse Identification, School Violence Prevention

*Field experience courses require participation in school
