Dr. Deirdre K. Mithaug is an associate professor in the Teaching
Children with Disabilities- Childhood program at St. John’s
University. She holds a B.A. in psychology from the
University of Washington, and two Master’s degrees and a Ph.D. in
behavioral disorders and special education from Teachers College,
Columbia University. Dr. Mithaug worked as a special
education teacher in NYC public and private schools for 8 years and
was an assistant professor at Eastern Illinois University in
Charleston, Illinois, from 1998 to 2000. She has been a
faculty member at St. John’s University for the last 7 years and
teaches undergraduate and graduate course in introduction to
special education, curriculum and instructional strategies,
practicum and field experience, applied behavior analysis and
research.
