SCHOOL OF EDUCATION GRADUATE STUDENTS VOLUNTEER AS JUDGES FOR
"NATIONAL HISTORY DAY" COMPETITION
Graduate students from The School of Education volunteered as
judges at New York History Day on Sunday March 10, 2013. New York
City History Day is an educational program that engages students in
grades 6-12 in the discovery and interpretation of historical
topics. This year’s theme was Turning Points in History: People
Ideas, Events. Judges evaluated student projects for historical
accuracy, quality, relation to the annual theme, and clarity of
presentation. This is the second year graduate students have
participated as judges and some were returning judges this year.
Dr. Julie Carter, Associate Professor in the Department of
Curriculum & Instruction also serves as a NYHD judge and takes
her students as a part of ongoing efforts to engage our students in
service to New York City public and parochial school students, and
to help these children develop a passion for history shared by our
graduate students.
Wingson Wong, a student in the Adolescent Career Change Program,
noted, "It was a wonderful day and a very positive experience for
me."
