Curriculum for Those Seeking Permanent Certification

School Building Leader Master’s in Educational Administration for Teachers Who Need Permanent Certification

School teachers with provisional licensing who also seek to advance their careers to the next level of school principal will benefit immensely from the School Building Leader Master’s in Educational Administration degree program.  In response to newly enacted New York State Education Department requirements, this accredited degree program has been uniquely redesigned to include a subject-matter concentration that can qualify teachers for both permanent certification and building-level certification at once!

Our curriculum consists of a core of 18 graduate credits in School Administration, an intensive three-credit internship and an additional 12 credits in graduate education courses. These courses can be in the content core of the initial certificate, or in a related content area, or in pedagogy courses as prescribed by New York State for a total of 33 graduate credits.

Qualified applicants must meet the following requirements for admission into the program:

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
  • Normally a 3.0 GPA in the general average and in the major field
  • Minimum of one year of successful teaching experience and/or pupil personnel services
  • New York State Initial Teaching Certification

Elective Program: (12 credits)
For Teacher Certification: 12 hours of electives in master’s level courses in the content core of initial certification or of a related content area.
