After registering and paying for your courses, you
will start your coursework by following the steps listed below each
semester. Please be aware that following registration
into a course, your tuition payments must be received on time
before the start of EACH semester otherwise your
will be DROPPED from the course for non-payment
once the class begins. If you have any questions about your tuition
due, please contact the Office of Financial Services at (718)
990-2000.
We recommend that you log into St. John's
Central portal a few days prior to the start of each
semester to check whether your virtual course is active. You
can check the semester start and end dates shown on the
Fall,
Spring, and Summer
academic calendars.
Normally the course page in St. John's Central is active by the
first day of the class. If you encounter any technical
difficulties accessing St. John's Central, please call (718) 990-6672 or 6748. If they are
unable to help, please complete the Technical
Assistance Form or email sjcsupport@stjohns.edu
with the following information immediately:
- Your student "X" number
- Your first and last name
- A description of the technical problem(s)
- Your course name & number
- Your St. John's email e.g. john.smith08@stjohns.edu
as well as alternate email address, AND a telephone
number
- Please indicate if you are currently, or ever were faculty,
admin, staff or graduate assistant
- Your email will be answered with 1 business day
To orient you to navigating our course software, we
highly recommend that you print this page of directions and
also view this introductory
tutorial which will help you get started. Once you
have successfully logged in, please view these
additional tutorials by choosing either
St. John's Central or Blackboard CE tutorials and learn how
to navigate within the course software.
Note, most of our online courses are conducted using Blackboard
courseware.
Instructions to Log-on to St. John's
Central
- Enter your user name (Format: firstname.lastname2digit year of
admission into the university, all in small letters).
Examples
If your name is John Smith and you started at St. John's in 2007,
then your User Name is john.smith07. If your name is Kathleen
Johnson and you started at St. John's in 1999, dropped out and
returned for re-admission in 2007, then your User Name is
kathleen.johnson07.
- Enter your PIN / password which is the same as your UIS
password
- Select the "My Courses" tab
- In the "Course Schedule" option, select the current term
- Click the course name
- You will find the introductory instructions to begin your
course. When finished please remember to log off or
close your browser window to ensure security.
- In addition, please choose the "Email" option and check for
introductory email from your professor
- Again, if you encounter techncial difficulties of any
sort, you should complete the Technical

with the following information immediately:
