Course Description
Students, monitored by the instructor, apply the analysis tools they have already acquired to complete a series of large sample empirical research projects of applied interest to the risk, insurance or banking industry. Students are responsible for all aspects of the research project including data collection, data analysis and the presentation of their results. At the end of the course students have a first hand experience in resolving the practical issues involved in conducting large sample empirical research. The class meets on-line in mostly asynchronous mode. The class also includes optional real-time interaction as well as required asynchronous interaction among its members. Learning takes place mostly off-line by completing your research assignments. You are entirely responsible for your own knowledge advances as you are active and critical participants in your learning. You reach out to your instructor and to your peers with questions when you can not resolve situations on your own. Assessment focuses on demonstrated mastery of large sample empirical research.
