EDU 5418: Administrative Theory

Course Description
This first course in administrative theory analyzes the school context as organizational behavior including structural, motivational, cultural, leadership, and decisional aspects.  The course further analyzes the environment and effectiveness of schools using quantitative theoretical frameworks.  Students will understand historical and theoretical foundations of educational administration. 

1. Acquire knowledge of the structural, cultural, political, and individual elements of educational organizations.
2. Understand and be able to apply decision-making theories in case settings that draw on a variety of theoretical  perspectives
3. Articulate and communicate a vision of appropriate operation of educational process
