Student Academic
Attire
Wearing academic attire (cap, gown and hood) is both traditional
and required for participation in both the St.
John's University Commencement Exercises and the Doctoral
Hooding Ceremonies.
There is no
charge for academic attire for our graduates. Students may keep
their academic attire as a souvenir gift from St. John's
University. Graduate caps come with a plain black tassel. Souvenir
red and white tassels can be purchased at Academic Attire
Distribution.

Although this
option is strongly advised against, as it will delay your arrival
and the procession, Academic Attire Distribution will also take
place on Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. in
Marillac Terrace. This option is only available for those students
who are unable to pick up their academic attire on their scheduled
dates and times.
Third Party Pick
up
All academic attire must be picked up in person by the candidates.
If, however, the degree candidate is unable to pick up at the times
allotted, a third party may pick items up providing the individual
has a copy of the student's order confirmation and StormCard
ID.
