St. John’s University Honors Navarro-Valls, Di Noia at 14th Commencement Exercises In Rome, Italy
St. John’s University’s 14th graduation ceremonies convened yesterday at the school’s Rome, Italy campus, as Rev. Donald J. Harrington, C.M., President of St. John’s, conferred Master of Arts, Master of Arts in Liberal Studies and Master of Business Administration degrees to the 28 graduate students. At the ceremony, St. John’s University also recognized Joaquin Navarro-Valls, M.D., who received an honorary Doctor of Science Degree and Archbishop Joseph Augustine Di Noia, O.P., who received an honorary Doctor of Laws Degree.

On June 6, 2010, the Law School’s 296 J.D. candidates and 20 LL.M. candidates convened at Carnesecca Arena for the 140th Commencement Exercises. Associate Academic Dean and Professor of Law Margaret Valentine Turano ‘77L served as Director of Proceedings for the ceremony that included over 4,000 family, friends, faculty, administrators, staff and alumni in the Law School community.
A Crowd of More Than 19,000 Share in Joy of St. John’s University’s 140th Commencement Celebration in Queens
St. John’s celebrated its 140th Commencement Exercises this afternoon before more than 19,000 graduate and undergraduate students, faculty, friends and family members on the University’s Great Lawn in Queens. Bob and Suzanne Wright (Co-Founders of Autism Speaks) gave the Commencement Address and received Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degrees.
Distinguished Writer and Novelist Pete Hamill Highlights St. John’s 2010 Commencement Ceremonies on Staten Island
A familiar name to St. John’s University’s Class of 2010 graced the stage for this morning’s Graduation Ceremonies on Staten Island. Pete Hamill, well known journalist and author, whose book Downtown: My New York was required reading when these graduates were freshman, gave today’s Commencement Address. Rev. Donald J. Harrington, C.M., President of St. John’s University, presided over the ceremonies and conferred an Honorary Doctor of Letters Degree upon Hamill, who gave an impassioned speech to the graduates before a crowd of more than 1,200.
