Vietnamese Modernism

October 15, 2007 - January 15, 2008
Opening Reception: Tuesday, October 30, 2007, 6 - 8 p.m.

This exhibition seeks to introduce a new phase of Vietnamese art and culture to Western audiences. It will acquaint viewers with a portrait of contemporary Vietnam, as seen primarily through the work of its painters, sculptors and fashion designers.

Working closely with artists living in Vietnam, St. John’s University hopes to maintain the links with traditional culture while promoting and entertaining an excellent selection of these new art talents to the United States for everyone to enjoy. Various activities will coincide with the exhibition including screenings, lectures, panels and round table discussions hosted by the Curator, the Yeh Gallery, the Department of Fine Arts as well as other departments from the St. John's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
