Climate Change and the Courts
Mounting scientific evidence suggests that global warming trends
may have ecological and economic costs. Simon Wynn, co-lead counsel
on the only climate change case that has gone to trial, will
discuss how courts have approached greenhouse gas emission cases.
Reviewing the science behind emissions limits, he will explore the
emerging law, including novel issues relating to common law
nuisance, preemption, the political question doctrine, standing and
personal jurisdiction. Mr. Wynn will also share insights on
practical litigation issues in climate change cases.
