I was invited to join the Writing Center at its inception in August 2006. My work here has been marked by terrific camaraderie with my colleagues, the administrators, and our student visitors. Camaraderie is perhaps the greatest strength of the Writing Center. It permeates our mentoring sessions, holiday parties, academic conferences, staff meetings, and casual conversations.
I experienced this camaraderie recently while other consultants and I labored over graduate school applications. We spent a great deal of time reading each others’ personal statements, offering critical and constructive feedback. I really believe that the support of my colleagues led to my success in the application process.
As I transition into law school, I expect that the support I have received at the Writing Center will be invaluable. I genuinely hope that any support which I offer to my colleagues and our student visitors is just as beneficial.
