I have always been interested in math and will graduate with a
degree in Actuarial Science in
May 2010. In high school, I approached a lot of my writing
assignments with minimal effort. It was not until my freshman year
that I discovered the joys of writing in Eng 1000C with Professor
Farley. While my high school writing revolved around characters I
read about in books, in Professor Farley's course I wrote about my
own personal experiences. It changed the way I wrote, the way I
wanted to write. When the semester had ended, Professor Farley had
recommended I work in the writing center, and so I began working at
the start of my sophomore year in the fall of 2007.
Working here in the writing center has not
only allowed me to help students achieve the same success I found
in Eng 1000C, but also develop and improve my own writing skills. I
have learned so much from my colleagues and the students that come
here for assistance. They have helped me to become more creative,
efficient, and perceptive; these are skills I can utilize
throughout my many walks of life.
