Joseph Cassano

I began working at the Writing Center in March of 2007, at the end of my Sophomore year at St. John's. While working here, I learned how to interact more strongly with others. Through engaging in conversations about writing, I discovered new methods of creating my own works and ideas. I didn't initially think that working as a consultant would complement my Sport Management major. However, as a consultant, I've learned to explore avenues, offer alternatives and uproot ideas someone may not have known they had to accomplish a goal. In the same way, I plan to use this knowledge of communication and interaction to explore alternatives in a civil manner with those I work with in the future. Writing is like anything in life. You have your goal, the finished project, but you have an infinite number of different paths or designs to reach it.

Now, in my Senior year at St. John's, I'm relearning and experiencing everything the Writing Center taught me in the past. As I begin to enter the business world and conclude my collegiate career, I'm sure I'll use the communication skills I've learned interacting with others in all future aspects of my life. I know that I am better prepared to challenge myself and accomplish great things thanks in large part to engaging and interacting with others, like myself, here at the Writing Center.
