Ending the Session

Remember to stick to expectations

40 minutes of serious writing and planning is plenty for one session. After that, attention lags, tedium sets in on both sides of the table. Besides, there’s a lot to do after you stop talking about the text: saving the work, printing, making follow-up appointments, etc. But if you let writers assume you’ll march through a paper and correct every error, often they will express frustration about not getting “finished.” Allow yourself time to revisit what you’ve done during the last 40 minutes and explore how they might move forward away from you.

Try Writing the Conference Report Together

This will give the writer an opportunity to reflect on what has been accomplished and what needs to happen next. Also, this gives the writer the chance to control what his or her professor hears about the session.

Grades

We understand that many clients solely focus on paper grades. Some will ask you what grade you think the paper will get but you cannot join that discussion and must explain (or ask our help to explain) that grades are subjective.
