Nicola Ruiz is a journalist and writer
and has recently completed a memoir, “And Then It Hit Me.”
She was the style writer for Forbes.com and her work has appeared
in Los Angeles Magazine, Men’s Health, The Southampton
Review and other publications. Prior to that, Ruiz was the
Managing Editor of MR Magazine, a men’s fashion trade publication.
Currently she writes a weekly style column for Lucky Magazine
online. She teaches First Year Writing at St. John’s University and
has taught writing workshops at 826NYC, a nonprofit organization
dedicated to supporting underprivileged school children with their
creative and expository writing skills. She grew up in England and
moved to the United States when she was in high school. She
received a BA in English Literature from the University of
California, Los Angeles and an MFA in Creative Writing and
Literature from Stony Brook University, New York. She lives
in New York City with her husband, son and chihuahua, Lola.
