A graduate from SUNY
at Buffalo, Ashwak Fardoush currently teaches
first-year writing courses at St. John’s University and
CUNY-Queensborough Community College. She focuses on postcolonial
literature and theory. Some of her research interests include
trauma theory, body politics, national identity, immigration
experience, tension between standard and nonstandard language
varieties, oral narratives and composition studies. In her spare
time, she likes to write short stories and poems in college-ruled
