Todd Craig is a native of Queens, New York – a product of
Ravenswood and Queensbridge Housing projects. As an alumnus of the
scholarship program A Better Chance, Inc., Todd holds a B.A. from
Williams College and an Ed.M. from Harvard Graduate School of
Education. Todd’s research interests are hip-hop culture and
pedagogy, multimodality in the English composition classroom and
creative writing pedagogy. He has been a DJ for over a decade and a
creative writer with various publications of poetry and fiction,
and awards including the Rockefeller Brothers Fellowship and the
2008 Academy of American Poets Prize at St. John’s University. His
dissertation will examine hip-hop pedagogy and the function of the
hip-hop DJ in the English Composition classroom. For updated
