The Staten Island Faculty Committee on Community-Based Research
and Partnerships and supported by the Vincentian Institute for
Social Action (VISA) and the Office of the Academic Vice President,
Staten Island present:
Campus Community Forum II: Focus on
Food
This unique event brings together three St. John’s University
classes and their common community partner, City Harvest,
showcasing three distinct but coordinated academic service-learning
(AS-L) projects. Together, St. John’s and City Harvest are
responding to the food and nutrition needs of the local community
and working to ensure that all residents of Staten Island have
access to healthy food.
We hope you will join us to learn more about
this collaboration between St. John’s University Staten Island
campus and City Harvest. The program includes presentations
by the following classes, in collaboration with Sheilah Crowley,
Director of Community Partnerships for City Harvest, and Susan
Fowler, Staten Island Community Development Coordinator for Staten
Island:
- Marketing 3320: Services Marketing (Professor Joan Ball, Tobin
College of Business)
- Education 1007: Methods of Teaching Science (Professor
Francesca Carroll, School of Education)
- English 2100/Anthropology 1100: Literature and Food Cultures
