An important part of Discover New York is its
information literacy component, which enhances students’ ability to
find, critically evaluate and ethically use information.
St. John’s University librarians have designed
online research tutorials and a collection of assignments that
address information literacy objectives, such as forming a research
question, finding scholarly information, evaluating information,
and avoiding plagiarism.
The “New York Research Guide” is found at:
We encourage DNY faculty members to integrate these
materials into their syllabi. Librarians are available to consult
with DNY faculty members to help them integrate information
literacy skills with course subject matter, and are also available
to visit DNY classes and to directly assist students with research
We invite you contact Instructional Services
library faculty directly (contacts are shownbelow) or contact the
