Discover New York is an introduction to New York City through
the lens of a particular subject discipline. The course focuses on
the themes of immigration, race/ethnicity, religion, wealth and
poverty, and the environment. Students are required to take
field trips as a part of their study.
Faculty members will clearly demonstrate how their disciplinary
approach relates to NYC.
Discover New York provides each first-year student with a
dynamic experience that combines in-class instruction with the
cultural wealth of New York City. Students are engaged in
analytical thinking and become proficient at using a variety of
media to access information. It also assists students in the
transitional period of their college years.
