Communicating With Faculty is Vital to
Success
It’s so important to be able to communicate with faculty
members. College professors are experts in their respective
fields and are a great resource for questions pertaining to your
class.
Remember to actively participate in class- don’t just wait to be
called upon. Ask questions whenever possible. Make sure
you are aware of your professors’ office hours and preferred method
of contact (e.g., e-mail, phone or in-person). All professors
are required to maintain office hours before or after class.
This can be the perfect opportunity to review material from a
lecture, exam or to clarify an assignment.
Learning Communities
As freshmen, you are given the added benefit of being assigned to a
Learning Community. This builds upon the concept of faculty
engagement outside of the classroom. Take advantage of the
various programs, activities, trips and discussions that are
developed specifically for you!
Regular communication is necessary for success in college. As
always, speak to your freshman advisor if you need any assistance
in reaching out to a particular faculty member.
