As a first-year student, you have been assigned a personal
advisor. It is the responsibility of this individual to
ensure that you have all of the support that you need to achieve
your goals. You will never be alone, as students consider the
University Freshman Center their “home away from home.”
We know you will have many questions about your major, classes,
professors, exams, term papers, extracurricular activities etc. and
we are prepared to answer them for you. Your advisor is your
primary resource for all of the information you will need. He
or she is your link to the many excellent support services
available to you as a member of the St. John’s community. You can
also view the campus resources available to you.
You can expect for your advisor to be in regular contact with you
at various times of the year regarding specific matters related to
your academic pursuits. You may also initiate a meeting or
conversation with your advisor as frequently as you
In addition to academic advising, your freshman advisor will
discuss with you the large number of extracurricular and
co-curricular activities on campus. Our goal is for you to be
engaged both academically and socially and to be an active member
in our University community.
We look forward to beginning this wonderful journey together.
