The UFC was created to help our first-year students by providing on-going support and guidance. It is our responsibility to do whatever we can to make a strong connection with each student so that he/she will be successful. The support services that we offer are meant to prepare students for the challenges of college life and to help them solve problems when they arise. In order for us to be effective, we need your help. I am asking that you immediately contact the UFC whenever you suspect a first-year student is in need of additional support. To aid in this effort, you may complete this on-line form. We will have the student’s advisor contact him/her within 24 hours.
All of the research on student retention points to the importance of the student-teacher relationship. It is you, the faculty member, that is in the best position to know when students will be successful and when they are in need of additional support. You can make a difference. By working together we can assist our students in reaching their goals.
