Dr. Charles C. Pizzo is Associate Director of the University Freshman Center and Transfer Student Services at St. John’s University. Previously, he served as Assistant Director and academic advisor for first-year pharmacy and allied health students.
In his current capacity, Dr. Pizzo is responsible for the direct supervision of academic advisors and staff. He also serves as a member of the Provost’s Planning Committee, the Student Engagement and Retention Taskforce and as a liaison to the Department of Enrollment Management. Dr. Pizzo represents the University Freshman Center and Transfer Student Services in major Office of Admission events and holds an appointment as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Speech for the College of Professional Studies at St. John’s University.
Prior to joining St. John’s University, Dr. Pizzo served as a Business Analyst and Communications Associate for the Technology Solutions Group at AXA Financial/The Equitable Life Insurance Society that serves as a premier provider of financial and insurance products. In this capacity, he was responsible for the daily content management of the Company’s online marketing system, communicating federal and state regulatory rules to financial advisors, and training them in the proper use of technological tools.
While pursuing his graduate degree, Dr. Pizzo began his career in higher education as a Retention Specialist at St. John’s University within the Office of Student Advising, Development and Retention. His responsibilities included the collection and compilation of student retention data for the Provost and analyzing various advisement programs at other universities.
Dr. Pizzo earned a Doctor of Education Degree and Professional Diploma in Instructional Leadership from the School of Education at St. John’s University, a Master of Business Administration Degree in Finance and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from the Peter J. Tobin College of Business at St. John’s University.
