services and resources designed to promote success both inside and
outside of the classroom.
University Freshmen Center – Welcome
First-Year Students!
The University Freshmen
Center is committed to the academic success, personal
development and overall satisfaction of every new student. Each
student is assigned a personal advisor who will guide him or her
through the first year at St. John’s . Students will receive
answers to questions about their major, classes, professors, or
extracurricular activities. In addition, advisors are trained
to assist with the overall transition and acclimation to a college
setting.
University Learning Support
Service
University Learning
Support Service provides academic support to students who seek
additional assistance in their learning and understanding of
college courses. Some of these services include tutoring, critical
thinking and reading workshops and supplemental instruction.
Writing Center
The University Writing Center is
the resource for students who desire assistance with the writing
process. Offering one-on-one consultations with trained
staff, the Writing Center benefits students who wish improve their
writing skills across the curriculum.
The Learning Resources Center, Staten Island
Campus
The Learning Resources
Center provides academic support for students on the Staten
Island Campus of St. John’s University. Free peer tutoring,
not limited to remedial instruction, is available in diverse areas
of study including Mathematics, Computers, Legal Studies,
Statistics, Accounting, Finance, Philosophy, Theology, Psychology,
Literature and Foreign Language.
