In order to serve the training needs of the doctoral programs
and to promote state-of-the-art knowledge in the field of
Psychology, the Center provides students and faculty with
opportunities to conduct research studies using information
gathered in the course of treatment at the Center. Client
participation in all research endeavors is strictly voluntary, and
nonparticipation in research has no adverse effect on treatment
services rendered. The Center has worked with the
University’s Institutional
Review Board (IRB) to insure that client rights to
confidentiality are vigorously protected. Dr. William Chaplin
serves as the Center’s Director of Research and oversees all
research activity at the Center. Currently, a focus of Center
research is the empirical demonstration of treatment
outcomes. Data collected at the Center is available to
students working on theses and dissertations, and serves to further
the state of knowledge in the field.
