PARTNERS Clinic-Based Initiative serves youth ages 3-17 who have
experienced traumatic bereavement, sexual abuse, and/or physical
abuse, and their families. These youth may be experiencing
posttraumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, and/or
aggression.
Inside PARTNERS Services
PARTNERS can provide:
- evaluations to identify areas of strength and concern in
children and families
- case management and advocacy - to connect children and families
with the right community resources
- therapy for the 5 C’s: Coping, Communicating, Confidence,
Choice-making and Conflict reduction
- empirically-supported methods of engaging families to
participate in evaluations and treatment
- multicultural and multilingual services in English, Spanish,
Creole, French, Hindi, Urdu, Hebrew, Mandarin and Cantonese.
- free childcare is available during your evaluation and therapy
sessions.

PARTNERS referral sources include:
- administration for Children’s Services
- legal aides
- various preventive agencies
- Queens Family Court
- local schools
- child advocacy centers
- caregivers themselves
- other mental health service providers, including outpatient and
inpatient clinicians and caseworkers.
Goals of
Therapy
For children, the goal of therapy is to:
- learn healthy ways to cope with upsetting or intense
emotions
- talk about themselves and their experiences
- make good choices (e.g. about school and friends)
- decrease conflict with friends and family members
- increase self-confidence
For parents and caregivers, the goal of therapy is to:
- decrease stress in their lives
- improve communication with their children
- increase ability to and gain their children’s cooperation
- have more positive relationships with their children
- learn about their children’s development
