“Child Victims of Hurricane Sandy: Post-Disaster Mental Health”
is a free workshop by Dr. Elissa Brown, St. John’s University
Professor of Psychology, Executive Director of the Child HELP
Partnership, and one of the three psychologists who developed the
9/11 Child & Family Recovery Program.*
This workshop is open to child-centric caregivers, including
clergy, educators, pediatricians, librarians, mental health
professionals, and other service providers. Please forward
this to others who may be interested in attending.
Included in the workshop:
- Mental health reactions to natural disasters from early to late
childhood
- Risk factors for post-trauma mental health problems
- Appropriate interventions: short-term and long-term
- Opportunities for intervention training and additional
resources
