PARTNERS receives Department of Justice Grant from the Office of
Victims of Crime for BRIDGES (Bridging Residents Information about
Death and Grief to Engage them in Services).
The goal of the BRIDGES Project is to innovatively and effectively
increase the awareness of crime-related death co-victims from the
two largest immigrant groups in Queens, NY, Latino and Chinese
families. We will increase the knowledge of their rights and
available services by implementing a public awareness campaign
aimed for the co-victims directly and by accessing the systems
serving them (e.g., medical, educational, legal, and religious
organizations) for maximum dissemination.
A collaborative and multidisciplinary Community and Consumer
Advisory Board, consisting of victim experts, community-based
organizations, faith-based services, businesses, media, consumers,
and experts on Latino and Chinese cultures will create and
disseminate language-, culturally-, and technologically-accessible
products to co-victims. BRIDGES will also create a “how to”
guide to apply our model at the national level.
