Sharon Nachman, M.D.

Professor of Pediatrics, Associate Dean for Research Stony Brook University School of Medicine, State University of New York at Stony Brook

Dr. Nachman received her undergraduate training at the City University of New York and her Medical degree from SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine. After completing her clinical training at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY, Dr. Nachman performed post-doctoral research at Rockefeller University in the laboratory of Dr. Alexander Tomasz. Since joining the faculty of SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine, Dr. Nachman has served variously as the Chair of the Fungal Opportunistic Infection Committee in the Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trials Group, on the Executive Board  of the NYS Department of Health AIDS Institute, as Co-Chair of the Internal Review of Pediatric Orthopedic Fellowship Program, and Chair of the Complications of Disease RAC for the Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trial Group. She currently serves as the Director of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Director of Grand Rounds, and Principal Investigator of the Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials supported by the National Institute of Childhood Diseases.  

Dr. Nachman is Board Certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Infectious Diseases, and certified by the American Academy of HIV Medication as an HIV Specialist. She has won numerous awards including Excellence in Teaching Pediatric Residents, three times, Stony Brook Teaching Award from the Pediatric House Staff, Community Heroes Award, Clinical Trial Exceptional Service Award, PhRMA, and Best Doctors in New York.
