Dr. Thomas P. Chen obtained his B.A. degree in economics from Tunghai University, Taiwan, and his Ph.D. degree in economics from the City University of New York. Dr. Chen has numerous publications, including several books and many refereed articles in national and international journals. He received St. John’s University Faculty Outstanding Achievement Award in 1990, and was a visiting professor at Tunghai University in 1993. He has served as a consultant to various agencies of the Taiwanese government. Twice he served as an economics expert for the United Nations to give lectures in China (1989 and 1993). He is currently president of Asia-Pacific Council on Democracy.
